Bone Creek Gun Club will be hosting an Appleseed rifle marksmanship clinic March 6th & 7th. This two day clinic will teach you the basics of precision rifle marksmanship. This is not a high speed CQB training clinic for ninjas & space shuttle door gunners but rather a back-to-basics course on the nearly forgotten art of precision rifle shooting with no rests.

Any kind of rifle & sighting system is welcome but the course is geared toward a semi-auto with peep sights. Lots of folks use a 10/22 with an aftermarket set of Tech Sights. Tech Sights are available for a number of popular rifles to improve on the factory sights.
Many others use some version of the AR15 but anything is welcome. For anyone but especially for kids, keeping the rifle lightweight is essential. Firing offhand and from unsupported positions gets old fast for youngsters. If you're bringing kids make sure the rifle stock is short enough to fit them. Some kind of rubber butt pad will help the butt "stick" to their shirt even if recoil is not an issue.
Because of the gravel "floor" at Bone Creek you must bring a foam pad for comfort's sake. I went so far as to lay a sheet of plywood down then a tarp to cover it then put a foam camping pad on top so the rocks and gravel did not poke me. We spent hours laying, sitting or kneeling on the ground so anything to make it more comfy is important. Kids can get away with a narrow foam pad but us bigger folks might need to put two pads beside each other.
While the instruction is slanted toward iron sights anyone can use a scope whether due to vision issues or that it's already on the rifle.
