Anyone interested in improving their rifle accuracy and learn the ability to shoot accurately out to 500 yards is welcome to sign up for a two day training session. Two dates are available. Eureka, KS (near Wichita)- Oct 10 - 11 Bone Creek - Nov 7 - 8 If you've never heard of the Appleseed rifle training the instructors use back to basics marksmanship principles to teach you how to use solid shooting positions and achieve maximum accuracy. All the shooting is done at 25 yards using scaled down targets to simulate long distance shooting. Here's some specifics. The Appleseed Program is designed to take you from simply being a rifle owner to being a true Rifleman. All throughout American history, the Rifleman has been defined as a marksman capable of hitting targets from 500 yards away! This 500-yard range is traditionally known as "the rifleman's quarter-mile;" a rifleman can hit just about any target he can see. Appleseed instruction uses reduced size, 500-yard targets scaled down for 25 meters. Think it's easy? Think again. With the "Six steps to firing the shot," we can show you how to put ten rounds through a 1-inch square at that distance using iron sights. Scopes are allowed, but this is not bench shooting! All targets are shot from the traditional positions: standing, sitting or kneeling and prone. On top of all that, hear some little-known Revolutionary War history and reaffirm your heritage. Become a more influential citizen and make America a better place. This is a 25 meter-only event. Rimfire and centerfire OK. Ammunition: 1200-1500 rounds. If you bring a .22, bring 1000 rounds for the .22 and about 500 rounds of ammunition for your centerfire rifle. What you should bring - A desire to learn and improve. Centerfire or .22 rimfire rifle, or both. Ammunition - see below. Scope OK. Sling strongly recommended. Eye and ear protection. Mat or ground cloth. Hat and sunscreen. Rain gear, layered clothes. Water, lunch, snacks. Some friends! A flyer for the Eureka Appleseed is available here . The info is all the same for the BCGC Nov 7-8 event. Registration is $70 for a full two day clinic in advance or $80 the day of the class. Contact BCGC member & PSU ROTC XO Capt. George Johnson
