Friday Night Fun Shoots
Written by Jay Hodges
Wednesday, 17 February 2010

Welcome all to the new year and with the new year brings new shooting opportunities.

This year I will be hosting a weekly fun shoot for anybody that would like to improve their shooting or just to get out and have some fun and get some trigger time in.

The fun shoot will take place every Friday until it gets too dark to shoot. The times will change depending on daylight.

This is not a change-up date for the Wednesday night shoots, this is a completely different fun shoot. I don’t know what Bob has in store for us with the Wednesday night shoots or if they will even take place this year.

What will be different with this fun shoot is that there isn’t going to be any “winners” or “losers”. The cost will be either $2.00 or $3.00 per shooter and they can re-shoot the course as many times as they like (time allowing). All the money will go into paying for targets, pasters and props. I’ve had a few suggestions on the lines of something like “everybody shoots the stage once”, then we can help each other to see what we can do to improve ourselves for the next run through.

The course of fire will be one stage with a mixture of paper and steel / easy shots and hard shots. I would like to try and test every aspect of shooting, some weeks will have one handed shooting (oh you’ll be carrying something in that free hand), but for the most part it’s going to be a fun match without the pressure of winning something. The match is here to help all of us improve as shooters and in that aspect we will all be winners. And most of them will be 6 shot friendly, I have a strange feeling my wheel gun needs some attention.

This will be a pistol fun shoot and we might even kick around the idea of having a BUG match (Back up Gun).

Here’s the details: You will need a handgun, a holster and a couple of magazines. Try and bring enough ammo for a couple of run-throughs. In most cases 50 rounds should be enough to get by at least twice, but the more the merrier. *please don’t bring a gun that will damage steel targets

We will be a cold range, meaning don’t show up with a loaded gun. There is a safe area for handling your guns. The only time we will load or handle our guns (other than the safe area) will be on the line ready to shoot.

Start time for the first match will be 3:00pm for now and when we have more daylight, we will roll the time to around 5:00 or 5:30. I will send another email out as soon as the weather breaks for our first match.

Hope to see you there,

Going To The Range
Written by Jay Hodges

700 Ave, ( the road leading to the range from 69 Hwy) has been closed due to a bridge out. You will have to access the range from 680Ave, 2 miles south. That’s the turnoff for the reservoir, and go 1 mile west, then turn north(right) 2miles, and then back east to the range. I do not know how long it will be closed.

They already closed 710 Ave., the next mile north, because of a hole in the low water bridge there.
